A time capsule of domestic life from the mid-nineteenth to early-twentieth centuries. The Gibson House Museum is a private, nonprofit Victorian house museum in Boston's historic Back Bay neighborhood. The home served as residence to three generations of Gibson family members and their household staff between 1859 and 1954. The Museum’s four floors of period rooms, including the original kitchen, are a time capsule of domestic life in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Visitors experience the house through guided tours that interpret class and culture through the stories and objects of the people who lived and worked there. The Gibson House Museum is committed to operating within mandatory state and local safety standards. Our staff will follow the guidelines below and we require all visitors to do the same. Please note these policies are subject to change without notice. In the event you are running late, the museum guide will wait no longer than 10 minutes before starting the tour. The exterior doors remain locked through the duration of the tour, so if you arrive 10 or more minutes after the tour start time, you will not be allowed to enter the house . Please do your best to arrive in a timely manner. If you know you are going to be late, feel free to call the museum or email info@thegibsonhouse.org to rebook your tour. Refunds will not be given in the case of late arrivals. The Gibson House Museum is located at 137 Beacon Street, between Arlington and Berkeley Streets in Boston’s Back Bay.
