Ringing in the new year with some very exciting news! The Art Museum of the University of Memphis will be launching its very own podcast titled "The AMUM Podcast." The first episode will be available at the end of January/early February. The museum will put out one episode each month that covers the museum's latest exhibitions, feature special guests (such as guest curators, museum professionals, artists, art historians, etc.), discuss new projects happening within the museum, showcase students working in the museum, and more. AMUM serves the University and its region as a resource and laboratory for the study, interpretation, and presentation of the visual arts and the dissemination of artistic scholarly research. “Windows on Africa” offers a glimpse into the visual expressions that have shaped, and continue to shape, African societies. At its core, African art embodies innovation and interpretation, reflecting a deep connection to spirituality, community, and the environment. Drawing from its expansive collection of traditional African artworks, AMUM invites you to explore the depth and diversity of African visual arts through five major thematic exhibitions: Architecture, Daily Life, Spirituality, Metal Arts and Masquerade. Embark on a journey to discover the stories and significance of Africa's rich artistic heritage.
