Goldwell Open Air Museum came to fruition in 1984 with an idea and the the love of the high mountain desert by Belgium artist Albert Szukalski. The Goldwell Open Air Museum is private property and it has a great variety of permanent artworks on display for everyone to enjoy and see. Awarded Best Sculpture Park in the Readers’ Choice USA Today 10Best Sculpture Park 2026 Competition . Thank you to everyone who supported us. We will continue to cherish our wonderful and unique museum. From 2006 - 2014, Goldwell offered an artist residency and artist workspace programs in the nearby Red Barn Art Center . Goldwell is and will remain a serene place of solitude for those who seek adventure in their art making amongst a spectacular and challenging landscape. This project was completed with a deliberate commitment to reinvesting grant funds into the Beatty community and strengthening Goldwell’s relationship with local residents, businesses, and civic organizations. Thank you to EVERYONE that has helped in the past year. For Albert Szukalski, “America” and “The West” represented a place of ultimate freedom where he had permission to pursue his artistic vision unfettered by historical precedent or convention.
